Organisational Commitment to Net Zero
GRACEAGE CARE LTD is fully committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045 across all UK operations, five years ahead of the government’s statutory 2050 target. This aligns with the NHS England Greener NHS Programme and reflects our commitment to improving population health outcomes while reducing our environmental impact.
Our Board of Directors formally approved this strategy in March 2025. We acknowledge that, as a provider of clinical and non-clinical services to NHS and public sector clients, our emissions – both direct and indirect – contribute to the health system’s carbon footprint. We therefore prioritise sustainability in all areas of our service delivery, workforce planning, procurement and estates.
This Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) will be reviewed annually, published on our website and updated to reflect actual emissions data and performance against targets.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline Year: 2020
Our baseline carbon emissions were calculated using the GHG Protocol – Corporate Standard and UK Government GHG Conversion Factors. This includes all relevant Scope 1, 2 and selected Scope 3 categories aligned with PPN 06/21.
Emissions Category | Emissions (tCO2e) | Description |
Scope 1 | 172 | Direct fuel use (company vehicles, heating, generators) |
Scope 2 | 142 | Electricity usage (owned buildings, admin offices) |
Scope 3 | 126 | Business travel, staff commuting, procurement (clinical supplies, ICT), waste |
Total | 440 tCO2e |
3. Most Recent Emissions Reporting
Reporting Year: 2025
We have made measurable progress in reducing our emissions footprint through targeted initiatives over the last seven years. The following data reflects our latest carbon inventory.
Emissions Category | Emissions (tCO2e) | Description |
Scope 1 | 148 | Reduced fleet emissions through EV conversion |
Scope 2 | 116 | Reduced electricity emissions via energy efficiency and green tariffs |
Scope 3 | 106 | Supplier engagement and digital transformation |
Total | 370 tCO2e |
We continue to track these figures monthly and align our internal reporting with the SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting) framework.
4. Emissions Reduction Targets
We have adopted SMART emissions reduction targets as follows:
Target Year | Scope 1 & 2 Reduction | Scope 3 Reduction | Strategy |
2030 | 35% below 2020 levels | 20% below 2020 | Electrification, renewable sourcing, green procurement |
2040 | 80% across all scopes | 65% across all | Solar energy, advanced smart buildings, supplier charter |
2045 | Net Zero | Net Zero | Residual emissions offset, full decarbonisation |
Progress will be benchmarked annually and published in our CRP dashboard and Social Value Statement.
Emissions Reduction Pathway
We have modelled a progressive emissions reduction trajectory, aiming to reduce annual emissions from 440 tCO2e in 2020 to 0 tCO2e in 2045. Key milestones include:
Carbon Reduction Projects
